New Kitchen Completed at San Antonio Men’s Campus
Five and a half years ago a fire broke out and burned the kitchen at the San Antonio men’s campus. Since then, the San Antonio Teen Challenge men have used other facilities for cooking and serving meals to the students while trying to rebuild their kitchen. This year, the men’s campus was given funds from an anonymous donor for the new kitchen project. The San Anonio campus worked hard this year and did a complete overhaul of the entire kitchen with new flooring, celing, electrical, fire suppression system, commercial kitchen equipment, tables, chairs, lights, etc…
Just this week the local fire marshall approved the use of the new kitchen. Thursday, May 26th on Thanksgiving Day, the San Antonio campus will have their first meal in their new kitchen and dining area.
The public is welcome to join students and staff from the San Antonio men’s campus for a ribbon cutting scheduled at 11:45 a.m. to dedicate the new kitchen. Following the ribbon cutting, a Thanksgiving meal will be served to all in attendance including the families of the Adult & Teen Challenge students.
While the kitchen is ready for use, there is still a huge need for a sprinkler system. $50,000 must be raised in the next six months for a new sprinkler system in order for the kitchen doors to stay open. Will you help keep the momentum going and give today? If you would like to help with the Sprinkler Project, please contact Men’s Director, Floyd Miles III at floyd.miles@tctexas.org or call the San Antonio men’s campus at (210) 624-2075.
